This young couple’s tastes were simple and transitional, so when they handed over a blank canvas to Mari.b Interiors, a calm and soothing palette was top priority. Honoring their preference, distinct pastel colors were instrumental in defining different spaces.
Being that this residence housed a married couple only, a higher level of attention and budget were given to more frequently used areas such as the kitchen, family room and master bedroom. In less frequented spaces, such as the guest rooms, a more conservative approach was used.
The family room and kitchen were designed and renovated to create a combined open space. This accommodated the couple’s individual’s routines, allowing them to spend more time together. The layout was also reconfigured to feature a series of French doors leading onto the terrace, facilitating an indoor/outdoor dining experience.
Catering to a client’s specific taste means that every project is truly different. In this case the team was given the task of decorating a room for a teenage girl. At 15 years old, she was past the youthful pinks of her existing drapery, bedding and walls but was not yet ready for an adult scheme. Considering this, Mari.b Interiors contrasted bright electric colors against soft pastels to combine a fun loving energy and a maturing aesthetic. This transitional palette allows the décor to evolve along with its dweller.
This Greenwich Village pied-à-terre was designed for the client to enjoy during her trips to New York City to attend the Opera.
Detail bespoke designs were applied to this basic shell of a space. Standard closets were transformed into mirrored feature walls, concealing the storage. Basic sash windows were adorned with thoughtfully designed casings and radiator covers beneath. Decorative artists were engaged to work their magic on all the doors, turning the mundane into the fanciful. Faux finishes applied beautiful textures to all the walls and a stained glass window was custom designed for the bathroom. 18th and 19th century antiques were used throughout this project creating the opportunity to combine old and new.
Currently in progress, this townhouse is all about the classic “re-design.” This repeat client employed Mari.b Interiors to give a facelift to her entire Chicago home. Large pieces of furniture remain to be reupholstered and re-distributed within the residence.
Traditional colors are to be replaced with a more progressive palette, marrying modern and traditional design. Fabric schemes, wall finishes, lighting, and accent furniture are being sourced to breathe new life into this turn-of-the-century home.
Currently in progress. Custom details are at the fore in this dramatic but refined interior. A newcomer to the residence, the clients main objective is to have a personal space within the home where she can work, relax and potentially house a guest.
Hand-painted wallpaper and customized mirror work have been created to mimic each other, adding an unexpected element in this traditional space. Bi-folding TV cabinet doors boasting a demi Lune reveal, cup around spherical sconces accommodating the need for light and storage in a limited space. Through innovative design, this room demonstrates Mari.b Interiors sense of drama, using bold modern accents while still respecting the Georgian architecture.
Clean lines and an array of colors. In this midcentury home on the water in Bal Harbor, FL. Mari B Interiors show versatility in style and adaptability once again to work effectively from a distance.
The beautifully maintained original checker board black and cream terrazzo stone floor became the basis for the color scheme in the main living area areas and also throughout . A cool palette of multicolored tones compliment the dramatic originals elements still maintained in this 1950s construction and add serene and soothing touches to an otherwise stark space.
This couple were looking to update a reasonably new renovation by adding “luxury wall coverings, and textiles and adding size appropriate pieces to the space. One57, the apartment and hotel building backs onto their master bedroom terrace and blocks out light despite the room being south facing. The lack of light was the largest issues so MBI came up with several solutions for this problem, through an entirely new ceiling plan. In addition to dropped pendants that served as night lights, a row of recessed directional spots were added directly above the bed, to not only bring more light in but also bounce light of the metal based wall covering. Additionally, Mari B Interiors played with mirrored surfaces in an attempt to bring in a reflection of the daylight from the outside.
This look pleased both husband and wife as it gently toes the line between masculinity and glamour.

Located in Greenwich Connecticut, Mari.b Interiors has projects across the country. Each project is tailored to the client, allowing the design team the freedom to create custom furniture and artisan finishes. Our goal is to create distinguished and intimate bespoke spaces. We pride ourselves in our ability to highlight each client’s taste, our portfolio being a testament to this.
Although Mari has worked on a wide scope of projects from ground up homes to pre-built white box spaces, Mari.b Interiors excels in the “re-design.” When taking on a re-design project, the goal is to tactfully transform a space while avoiding an entire overhaul. This challenge is met through key updates on existing pieces such as new upholstery, window treatments, and wall finishes. We know a proper re-design maintains the highest level of custom detail, without the unforeseen costs that often accompany a full-scale refurbishment.
The work of Mari.b Interiors is open-minded as our clients are ALWAYS the leading inspiration. Client involvement and communication is highly valued at Mari.b Interiors. This collaboration ignites design momentum and narrative, allowing for constant challenge and exploration through the design process. Delivering a highly refined interpretation of their vision is the most rewarding part of design and truly motivates our team.
